Volker Nienhaus, received his doctorate and post-doctorate in economics from the University of Bochum (Germany). He was full professor of economics at the German universities of Trier (1989-1990) and Bochum (1990-2004) and President of the University of Marburg (2004-2010). He holds an honorary professorship of the University of Bochum and is Visiting Professor at the University of Reading (UK) (since 2010). He was Visiting Professor at the University of Malaya (2010/11) and the Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies (2011). He served as consultant to the Islamic Financial Services Board and in several academic advisory committees and boards, including the German Federal Ministry of Economic Co-operation and Development (1998-2008) and the Governing Council of INCEIF (International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance) in Kuala Lumpur (since 2006) where he also became Adjunct Professor (since 2012). He is member of the Supervisory Board of FWU AG in Munich (since 2013), an internationally operating family takāful provider. His interest in Islamic economics and finance dates back to the late 1970s.

Mabid Ali Al-Jarhi, is currently a Professor of monetary and financial economics at Ankara Social Sciences University in Turkey. He was awarded the 2019 IsDB Prize in recognition of his immense contributions to Islamic Economics and Banking in a career spanning over four decades. He is also member and secretary of the Sharīʿah board at the Dubai Financial Market. After graduating from Cairo University in 1960, he completed his graduate studies at the University of Illinois, University of California (UCLA) and finally obtaining his PhD in economics from the University of Southern California (USC) in 1975. He has held many high ranking positions in his long-standing career including: professor of economics and finance, Faculty of Islamic Studies, at Hamad bin Khalifa University, Qatar; financial expert and head of training, Emirates Islamic Bank; President, International Association for Islamic Economics; Director, Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI-IDB); Chief Editor, Islamic Economic Studies journal (IRTI-IDB); Director, Economic and Policy Planning at Islamic Development Bank (IDB); Chief of Research and Senior Economist, Technical Editor of the Joint Arab Economic Report, Secretary General, Council of Governors of Arab Central Banks, Arab Monetary Fund and economist at the Institute of National Planning, Cairo. He was also a member of the Constitutional Committee that wrote the Egyptian Constitution of 2012. He was also the former author of a yearly economic report on Islamic finance in the UAE and the Gulf. Having taught economics at American and Egyptian universities, he has participated in establishing several Islamic banks, and in introducing Islamic banking laws. He has published extensively in economics and Islamic economics and Finance.

Mohammad Hashim Kamali, is currently the CEO of the International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS) Malaysia under the newly appointed Chairman of the Institute, Former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Abdullah Haji Ahmad Badawi. He was born in February 7, 1944, Nangarhar Province of Afghanistan. He served as Professor of Islamic law and jurisprudence at the International Islamic University Malaysia, and also as Dean of the International Institute of Islamic Thought & Civilization (ISTAC) from 1985- 2007. He is also a member of the Royal Academy of Jordan. He served as a member and sometime Chairman of the Constitutional Review Commission of Afghanistan, May–September 2003. He is currently on the International Advisory Board of eleven academic journals published in Malaysia, USA, Canada, Kuwait, India, Australia and Pakistan. In May–June 2004, and subsequently in October 2007, he served as a UN consultant on constitutional reforms in the Maldives, and as a UN constitutional law expert on the constitution of Iraq, 2005-2006. He is currently a Shariah Advisor with the Securities Commission of Malaysia, Member of the CIMB Shariah Board, and Chairman of Shariah Board, Stanlib Corporation of South Africa. Jack Reardon Edward, is currently the Chief Editor of the International Journal of Pluralism and Economics Education. He teaches economics in the School of Business at the Hamline University, USA. His research interests include economics education, energy and the environment, and labor economics. He has published in a wide variety of journals including the Journal of Economic Issues, Monthly Labor Review and International Journal of Green Economics. He has published A Handbook for Pluralist Economics Education (Routledge) and The Economics Curriculum: Towards a Radical Reformulation (World Economics Association Books). His work on principles of economics textbook entitled Introducing a New Economics: Pluralist, Sustainable and Progressive was recently published by Pluto Press.
