Abstract : Crime is one of the major externalities of development. As the economy move from satisfying the peoples' basic need to higher level of economic welfare, the crime rate will increase. This study aim to identify the relationship between crime and economic indicators such as unemployment inflation, famine, and income misdistribution. The first part discusses the concept of development, welfare, and the definition of crime and motivation. This research paper review literature concerning the relation between economic development and crime, and the economic explaining of crime. Using the available data, this paper use statistical analysis to identify the relationships between economic development and crime. Last part of the study is for regression analysis and principal components analysis to reach some conclusions about the economics of crime.
