Abstract : Saudia experienced a substantial growth in both inputs and outputs. This paper attempts to analyze the Saudia cost function for the period 1970-1990. For this purpose, a Translog Multiproduct Cost Function (TMCF) has been utilized to estimate the average value share of each input, share elasticities with respect to input prices, and elasticities of substitution. The Full Information Maximum Likelihood (FIML) is used to estimate the TMCF. The results show that share elasticities with respect to input prices are positive while cost flexibility of output with respect to prices of other factors of production is negative , and that Saudia’s cost share of the corresponding input increases with an increase of the level of output.
