Abstract : The aim of this study is to determine the main causes behind export instability in Jordan during the period (1970-1991). The statistical results of the proposed econometric model, indicate that the main causes behind the export instability were: goods, commodity and geographical concentration . The state of Jordanian export was also analysed to estimate the effect of export on economic growth (GDP growth rate was used as an indicator). The impact of exporting raw materials, consumer goods, commodity and geographical concentration was analysed as well. The statistical results indicate that exporting consumer goods is positively associated with economic growth, while, commodity and geographical concentration is negatively associated with economic growth. Finally, some policy implications were presented.
