THE DEGREE OF KINDERGARTEN TEACHERS PRACTICES OF THEIR ROLES IN DEVELOPING CITIZENSHIP VALUES ACCORDING TO THE VISION OF 2030 IN MAKKAH CITY

Abstract : The aim of the study: The study aimed to explore the degree of kindergarten teacher’s practices of her role in developing the values of citizenship (national belonging, tolerance, community participation) in the light of the 2030 vision, from educational leaders and supervisors’ point of view. It also aimed to detect the most important obstacles that hinder citizenship values development, and to detect differences in the averages of responses among educational leaders and supervisors on both public and private kindergartens. Study problem: The main question of the study is: What is the degree of kindergarten teacher’s practices of her role in developing citizenship values in the light of Vision 2030 from the point of view of educational leaders and supervisors? Study questions: The study sought to answer the following sub-questions: 1- What is the degree of kindergarten teacher’s practices of her role in developing the value of national belonging in the light of Vision 2030 from the point of view of educational leaders and supervisors? 2- What is the degree of kindergarten teacher’s practices of her role in developing the value of tolerance in the light of Vision 2030 from the point of view of educational leaders and supervisors? 3- What is the degree of kindergarten teacher’s practices of her role in developing the value of community participation in the light of Vision 2030 from the point of view of educational leaders and supervisors? 4- What are the most prominent obstacles that may hinder a kindergarten teacher from practicing her role in developing the values of citizenship in the light of Vision 2030 from the point of view of educational leaders and supervisors? 5- Are there differences between the averages of the responses of both leaders and supervisors on private kindergartens and leaders and supervisors of public kindergartens to the degree that a kindergarten teacher practices her role in developing the values of citizenship in the light of Vision 2030? Study methodology: The study used the descriptive survey method, which relies on studying the reality or phenomenon as it exists through gathering information and data and determining the current status of it; to know the strengths and weaknesses in it, by questioning all members of the research community or a large sample of them. Community and study sample: The study used the survey method where the population consisted of: (43) leaders of the public kindergartens, (67) leaders of the private kindergartens, , and (13) educational supervisors on the public kindergarten and (7) educational supervisors on the private kindergarten in Makkah. In total, the study sample consisted of (130) educational leaders and supervisors for public and private kindergartens. Study tools: To achieve the aims of the study and answer its questions, the researcher created a questionnaire consisting of two parts, the first includes (54) sentences distributed on three dimensions; to measure the degree of developing the value of national belonging, tolerance, community participation, while the second consisted of (11) sentences for the most prominent obstacles that may prevent the teacher from developing citizenship values. Study results: The study reached the following result: 1- The degree of kindergarten teacher in Makkah practicing her role in developing the values of citizenship in the light of Vision 2030 from the point of view of educational leaders and supervisors was from high to a very high. 2 - The highest degree for a teacher’s practices of her role in developing the values of citizenship from the point of view of the respondents is the value of tolerance, followed by the value of national belonging and then community participation. 3- The respondents agree on the obstacles that may prevent the kindergarten teacher from practicing her role in developing the values of citizenship among children. 4- There are statistically significant differences between the average responses of educational leaders and supervisors on public kindergarten and educational leaders and supervisors on private kindergartens to the degree that a kindergarten teacher practices her role in developing the value of national belonging in favor of educational leaders and supervisors in public kindergartens. 5- There are no statistically significant differences between the average responses of educational leaders and supervisors on government and private kindergarten to the degree that a kindergarten teacher practices her role for both the value of tolerance and community participation. Study conclusions: The study results concluded the following: 1- The estimates of the study from the point of view of the respondents to the degree of kindergarten teacher practicing her role in developing citizenship values in the light of the 2030 vision, came at a high degree, and a number of conclusions emerge from this result, as follows: • A kindergarten teacher develops the value of tolerance and spreads love and peace among children. • The kindergarten teacher works to instil a sense of belonging and loyalty to the country and to leadership in children’s hearts. • The kindergarten teacher contributes to instil social responsibility and develop a sense of initiative, cooperation and participation in charitable works that contribute in social cohesion and unity. 2- The study reached to a set of obstacles that may prevent a kindergarten teacher from practicing her role in developing the values of citizenship among children, according to the approval of the respondents, the most important of them is the lack of activities in the civil society organizations that suit the level and abilities of children, and parents' lack of awareness of the importance of activities that take place outside the kindergarten which will develop the values of citizenship. 3- The study results concluded that the degree of kindergarten teacher practicing her role in developing the value of national belonging in public kindergartens is higher than in private kindergartens, and there are no differences between the degree of the teacher’s practice in public and private kindergartens for both the value of tolerance and community participation according to the respondents . Study Recommendations: The study recommends the following: 1- The necessity of encouraging the kindergarten teacher to continue practicing her role in developing and inculcating the values of good citizenship among children. 2- Exchanging distinguished educational experiences of citizenship values among kindergarten teachers, leaders, and educational supervisors, as they have a positive impact on increasing successful practices. 3- Establishing partnerships with civil society organizations to provide activities that suit the level of children and their abilities to develop citizenship values. 4- Educating the parents about the importance of external activities to enhance the national belonging and community participation. 5- Supporting kindergarten teacher preparation programs with modern methods of how to instil and develop citizenship values for a kindergarten child. Suggested studies: - An experimental study of the kindergarten teacher practicing her role in developing the values of citizenship. - Investigation of classroom activities and field visits in instilling good citizenship among children. - Measure the value of national belonging, tolerance, and community participation in a preschool child. - Measure the degree of family awareness of education over the citizenship values of a preschool child. - The relationship between community participation and early childhood leadership.
