This research aimed to prepare a list of fields of preparation for family life necessary to build a family, And to identify the needs of students of King Abdul Aziz University students in fields of preparation for family life, and then reveal the differences between the needs in the fields of preparation for family life, which are attributable to the variables (sex, marital status). In order to prepare a proposed course for preparing family life according to the needs of the students of King Abdul Aziz University.
The research sample was a simple random sample comprised (936) students. The research was conducted using the descriptive analytical approach, through a series of actions and tools, represented in the following: Prepare a list of fields for preparation for family life, and based on the list, a questionnaire was prepared to identify the needs of male and female undergraduate students to prepare for family life and the questionnaire was distributed randomly among students.
The results of the research summarized in list of fields to preparation for family life necessary to build a family. There was a very high needs in fields of preparation for family life, for all fields, and the sub-themes contained in each field, both for males and females' students. There was a statistically significant difference between the responses of respondents about their needs in the fields of preparation for family life attributed to the sex variable in the following's fields; first: marriage preparation, second: family and relationships, and fifth: family psychology, and sixth: problems and family crises. for the benefit of female students. And there was no differences attributed to the sex variable in the followings fields; family resource management, and family health. There was also no statistically significant differences between the responses of respondents about their needs in the fields of preparation for family life attributed to the marital status variable. Based on the results achieved, a description of a proposed course titled “Preparing for family life” according to the model of the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment was prepared.
The research recommends taking the necessary action by the university officials to include this course to prepare undergraduate students for family life as a free elective course for students in different in different discipline. |
