In light of Vision 2030, the Saudi Arabia is moving toward diversify sources of national income, The tourism sector is one of the economics sectors that Saudi Aribia government is contracting to be develop it. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the relationship between tourism sector and economic growth over the period (1995 - 2017). By using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag model (ARDL), the results showed that the tourism revenues do not effect on economic growth, where the Saudi economy depends heavily on the oil sector. In addition, the results showed that the economic growth positively affected by local investments in the long term. Besides that, the results showed a negative effect of direct employment in tourism sector on economic growth in the short and long term, where the study pointed out that most of these jobs are occupied by foreign workers, which leads to leakage a part of the tourism income out of the Saudi Arabia by external transfers. The study also pointed that the fluctuations on the number of direct jobs in tourism sector may effect the outcome of the assessment, other reason is the shorten of study period. Also, the impact of the high proportion of foreign employment by leaving work and return to their countries. Accordingly, the study recommended the importance of working on raise the contribution of the tourism sector in employment and setting controls on this regard to serve citizens and investors. Also, recommended the importance of stimulating tourism investments by providing the necessary support and facilities for investors, especially small and medium enterprises. In addition, the importance of taking into consideration when making plans of tourism development that achieve the sustainability and exploring the possibility of achieving the objectives of the development of the sector in the long term and take the advantage from the experiences of previous countries.
