Abstract : The main objective of this research is to study how teachers utilized the appropriate teachable moments to develop the mathematical concepts in kindergarten. Using descriptive methodology. a case study was conducted in two KG3 classes in one of the private schools in Jeddah. Five teachers were observed, and their interactions with their children were audio taped and transcribed for later analysis. A whole day observation was performed for (52) hours and (4) minutes, which equals (3124) minutes in all. In addition, focus groups method was used with teachers to discuss their beliefs and comments about the observed situations. The data of observation records and voice recordings' were qualitatively analyzed starting from open coding and grouping, to calculation of frequency and percentage. The results of the study showed the low percentage of the utilized teachable moments compared to the missed ones. The teachable moments might be utilized by one of the following response methods: utilizing spontaneous situation, encouragement, questions, correction of wrong concept, and extension of moment. They might be missed by: not being aware of, redirecting, criticizing, ignoring, repeating the wright responses and ignoring the wrong one. The analysis also suggested that teachers' knowledge of mathematics and their pedagogical content knowledge affect their ability to utilize teachable moments, which reflects on the development of children's mathematical concepts in children. The researcher recommended enriching curricula with the appropriate methods and training for teachers in order to enable them to utilize teachable moments and suggested encouraging researchers to study utilization of teachable moments in other academic areas.
