The web passed multiple generations since it was developed in 1990 by Tim Berners-Lee, and has supported electronic publishing through the pages using High-Text Markup Language (HTML), then later on evolved to rely on the publication using content management systems. The World Wide Web achieved information retrieval and exchange of knowledge and participation among the beneficiaries of any place without regard to geographical barriers.
With the advent of the second generation of the Web which used use modern techniques and protocols for electronic publishing, and the process of using the Web started moving towards interaction between the beneficiary and the system through different techniques, such as wikis and Really Syndication Simple (RSS) and social networking. However the trend towards the third generation of Web emerged what is known as Semantic Web techniques, which is a revolution in the world of information, where the latest shift in information processing is done by achieving understanding of the web to the meanings and connotations of words addressed and retrieved; Not only for what it was in the past of dealing with the machine by identifying the binary language (zero and one), without understanding the implications of written information across the web. This was followed by an evolution, development in information retrieval systems used with this new generation of the web; the semantic search, and search engines that offer this type of search. In this study, the researcher identifies and defines semantic searching characteristics, and what distinguishes it from the traditional searching, with statistical study of using a semantic search engine compared to a traditional search engines, where the study covers both search engine Gaa and the Google search engine, to get to know some of their characteristics for searching and feedback through the applied conduct study period in November, 2010.
