Abstract : The study current assessment factors scientific productivity of faculty departments of library and information male and female Saudis and non-Saudis in Saudi universities, both in the King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah, Umm Al Qura University in Mecca, and the University of Imam Muhammad bin Saud and King Saud University in Riyadh. The study scientific productivity of three time periods: before 1990 - 1995, 1996-2000, 2001 - until after 2005, was aimed to identify the size of the scientific productivity through: determine the contribution of each type of numerically in the construction of knowledge in the field , and knowing the size of the discrepancy between their respective contributions scientific distributed by years and topics, and to determine the difference in the size of this productivity between departments students and students (male and female) and between faculty members Saudis and non-Saudis, as well as to identify the most important factors in those productive for them. The researcher relied on the use of survey method to obtain the necessary information to find faculty members degree in Library and Information in Saudi universities by designing a three-part questionnaire and 6 questions. Was also discussed sites all faculty members on the Internet to access intellectual production from which it has been reached productivity only thirteen of them, have been added to the basic study sample was 30 Single. Study and found many of the results was the most important: that 46.5% of the study sample at the Assistant Professor ie they need to do a lot of research and scientific activities for the transition and promotion to the top level of the degree. The faculty members of both sexes who do not hold any other positions not involved in any of the committees spend more time doing research.
