Subject : Sensory Words in Arabic: Lexical and Semantic Study
Document Language : Arabic
Abstract : This Analytical semantic on the words of senses in Arabic Language aims to identify senses verbs' main semantic behaviors in their semantic fields. The study subdivides these sense verbs into five types each type has its own verbs that are related to one sense of the five sense. The study investigates the different uses of each sense verb found in the dictionary to recognize its semantic behavior and comparing it to the other sense verbs behaviors inside the same semantic field. This will reveal the most important semantic changes in each field of the sense verbs fields; hence, showing the main similarities and differences of these fields according to the semantic behaviours. One of the most important phenomena this study discusses is the phenomenon of using some of these verbs in more than one field, as a kind of semantic change. The study also shows the tremendous lexicon space that the sight sense verbs occupy compared to other senses verbs. The study discovers that sight sease verbs bear additional semantic components related to meanings that are beyond the sense verbs in their semantic recognition compared to other sense verbs, for example sight and touching verbs files almost always exports verbs to other fields such as smell and hearing. The study bases its whole analysis on the different uses of verbs found in the dictionary the researcher hopes that this study will act as a catalyst for further studies that work in analyzing verbs of these fields into textual contexts since the mastering of semantic language is positively affected by combining lexicon study with verbs study inside vivid language the most important example of this phenomenon of synesthesia of which the researcher hopes his study offered a positive comparison the researcher hopes also his study to work as a good empirical method that contributes in more discoveries in the field of semantic change as general.
