Abstract : This paper deals with the role of information technology (IT) in scientific research of Islamic Economics. The paper is divided into two parts: the first one examines the nature of IT itself and the second discusses the relationship between IT and research. Various topics are dealt with in both sections; topics such as the development of the concept of IT from one time to the other, the division of IT, examples of some IT equipments, the heavy reliance and use of electronic data (ED) in today's world, the diversity of ED sources, the benefits that IT can bring for research in Islamic Economics, etc.
