Abstract : The study aimed to identify the nature of the relationship between government spending (current and capital) and economic growth in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, explaining the aspects, causes and mechanisms of rationalizing government spending, as well as measuring the relationship between government spending and economic growth in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The importance of the study was represented in assessing and analyzing the impact of government spending programs on economic growth rates, as well as studying the contribution of economic growth in the Kingdom in determining the size of government spending, and the study showed the validity of the research hypothesis, and that the relationship came unilaterally from economic growth to government spending and not vice versa. The study recommended the need for the Kingdom’s government to diversify sources of income, the need for the Kingdom’s government to guide government spending, increase the participation of the private sector in implementing development plans, and the need to increase the percentage allocated to investment spending, and to limit current spending.
