Abstract : Title Of The Thesis: "The Phenomenon Of Alienation In The Poetry Of Antara Bin Shaddad", An Objective Technical Study through the investigation of the contents of this phenomenon, and the technical methods that he used to express this, and benefit from all of this in enhancing the reading system and interpretation and the production of significance according to an integrated approach in order to reveal the nature of alienation in his poetry, and the overall interpretation - concerning- his poetic behavior in form and content. So as to achieve this goal, I divided the study into a (theoretical introduction), (two chapters), and a (conclusion). As for the (theoretical introduction), it addresses (alienation, its concept, and nature). It also contains the identification of alienation in the means of language and in convention, a summary of the philosophy of alienation, both ancient and modern, and then an overview of the features of alienation in ignorant poetry(the poetry of pre Islamic era) in general, and the poetry of Antara Al-Absi in particular. The First Chapter analyzes (patterns of alienation in the poetry of Antara), in which there are three types of alienation: psychological alienation, temporal and spatial alienation, and social alienation. In the light of these patterns, Antara resorts to fill the inferiority complex resulting from obstacles which were imposed on him such as ancestry, color and slavery, through his poetic talk about individual heroism, and self-assertion through the dedication of a set of normal social values. The Second Chapter talks about (the artistic structure and its relationship with alienation in the poetry of Antara). In this chapter, it is shown that Anrara has expressed his alienation through a set of artistic formulas, the most important of which are: The poetic picture, internal and external rhythm, verbal repetition and opposite dichotomies (e.g. past / present duality, ego / other-darling dualism, chastity / daring dualism, and slavery / freedom dualism), it is also shown that Antara's relying on general poetic purposes did not prevent him from using narrative character In drawing the consecution of events, dialogue and narrative description, description of time, place and characters
