Abstract
:
Preparation and characterization of doped and undoped ferrite was examined for photocatalytic degradation of synthetic dyes. Different forms of ferrite were prepared such as Zn,Co,Cu,Ni,Cd,and Cr ferrites. Characterization of the ferrite was performed using XRD, EPR, BET surface area, SEM images. Photocatalytic degradation was performed on some organic dyes. The pure ferrite showed very low photocatalytic activity as expected from literature data however doping with small amount of Al showed a dramatic change sucha s complete degradation in only few minutes the photo degradation for several doped ferrites was found to be in the order Zn>Co>Cu>Ni>Cd>Cr ferrites. The rule of Al doping was declared using XRD and EPR that the electronic structure of the ferrite was changed and also the existence of Al As doping materials increases the mobility of ions and increases the crystallinity of the prepared ferrites.
