Abstract : The relationship between School Achievement and Some Personality traits among the female students of The Second year of The Secondary School in Riyadh Dr. Samia Bin Ladin This study attempts to identify the relationship between academic achievement, the level of ambition and some personality traits in the second year of the secondary school female students in Riyadh, and also aims to detect the potential differences in certain personality traits among over - achieving students and under - achieving in both scientific and literary sections. The study was conducted on a sample of (496) students, in which (248) students are in the second year of the scientific specialization section and (248) students are in the literature section. The sample has been divided into four sub-groups, in which (62) students are over - achievers in both the scientific and literary section and (62) students who are under - achievers in both the scientific and literary sections. The researcher used a personal referendum "Cattell", and a questionnaire of "Camellia Abdel Fattah", for the level of ambition. In addition, the researcher also used the average total scores for all subjects, obtained by the students in the first and second semesters of the 11th grade high school scientific and literary specialization sections. The results of the study are as follow: 1 - The existence of a statistical positive correlation at Level 0,05 between the academic achievement and undergo trait. And at Level 0,01 between the academic achievement and the following: intelligence, emotional equilibrium, superego strength, realism, self-confidence, self-sufficiency, the level of ambition of the members of the sample. 2 - The presence of statistically significant differences at level 0,01 between the under - achievers in both the scientific and literary sections and between the over - achievers also in both sections in the following: (intelligence, emotional equilibrium, superego strength, self-sufficiency, the level of ambition) in favor of the over - achievers in both scientific and literary sections. 3 - The presence of statistically significant differences at level 0,01 in the level of ambition between the female students in scientific section and the female students in literary section for the benefit of scientific section students. The study has concluded a number of recommendations and proposed research sparked by the search.
